Made of organically produced cruelty free 100% silk fabric made by fairly paid skilled artisans in Jharkhand (India), hand dyed with 100% natural indigo by Lise and Harumi from Couleur Garance in Lauris (South of France), sewn by Madeleine and Pauline in Marseille and Trets (South of France), and hand pleated by Véronique, Claire and their mother Hortensia in Marseille (South of France).
Indigo is a natural dye extracted from the leaves of plants of the Indigofera genus. It is one of the oldest dyes known to humankind. Nautral indigo can dye all natural fibers. The colour achieved depends on the type of vat, the concentration of indigo, and the number of dips. It gives infinite shades of blue, from the palest summer sky to an almost purple black.
The pleating on silk is not permanent, in order to preserve it we suggest keeping it away from water and recommend professional soft dry clean only. The pleating will flatten with time and wear, in order to maintain it in its best condition, we advise to always store the garment gently rolled-up in its fabric pouch. Garments can be repleated upon request, please see our Repleating Service page for more information. Botanically dyed colors may fade if left in the sun, in order to preserve them we recommend storing the piece in a dark place. Indigo pieces may bleed in contact with skin or clothing.

Each plissé is unique, with waves of pleating, slight color variations and flaws inherent to the hand pleating and hand dyeing processes. We consider these artifacts of their production and proofs of their authenticity.
